Clones Solar-Powered water solution

Often you can’t see it and you can’t hear it because it is happening far from the prying lens of the cellphone camera. But there is good news growing in South Africa and it is spreading like green shoots at the end of the dry season.

Clones, KwaZulu-Natal is a remote village of about 5 000 people, in a place where water is a very scarce commodity. Villagers have to walk an average of 1,6 kilometres to fetch water from a dirty and unhealthy well. Imagine pushing a wheelbarrow uphill with 40 litres of water.

The village now has a new beginning. South Africa’s Promise and our goodhearted sponsors are helping build a solar-powered water technology system.
